SYNTHETIC ROOFS

For this asphalt composite roof the customer chose to install copper HotShingle. Since HotShingle was installed when the roof was being replaced, the roof materials could have been wood shake, cedar shingles, slate shingles, synthetic shingles (DeVinci), etc. HotShingle simply installs on the roof edge on all new construction and new roof projects. Although not visible in this photo, the heat trace cable is installed at the roof edge where ice dams and icicles develop. HotShingle relies on direct heat transfer, hence, a single heat trace cable is needed in this high snow load region. If additional melt back was needed, HotShingle2X or 3X could be installed. HotShingle with a single heat trace cable will prevent ice dams and icicles on 90% of the applications in high snow load regions. A result of direct heat transfer.

This photo shows a HotShingle installation. Again, HotShingle is installed on all new construction and new roof projects. The roof material installed here was asphalt composite shingle, however, the material could have been standing seam metal, corrugated metal, pro-panel metal, wood shake, cedar shingle, synthetic shingle (DeVinci), slate shingle, etc. The key is HotShingle easily installs on any roof edge if new construction or a new roof is being installed. It is NEC (Article 426) compliant since the heat trace cable is partially exposed for inspections, maintenance, and replacement! It heat a roofs edge on a continuous basis using a single heat trace cable as seen in this photo. This is a high snow load region and because all HotEdge designs rely on direct heat transfer, 90% of the time a HotEdge design will prevent ice dams and icicles from forming using a single cable! This is a fraction of the heat trace cable needed for other concepts which rely on indirect heat transfer.

Please note, HotEdge systems were not installed on the upper roofs. Only the first level roof edges have HotShingle installed and performing in this high snow load region and relying on a SINGLE heat trace cable. Because all HotEdge designs rely on direct heat transfer, 90% of the time ice dams and icicles will be eliminated from forming in a high snow load region. Additionally, all HotEdge systems are NEC compliant (Article 426) for insertion, inspection, and replacement.
